Before I came here, I once browsed pictures of last year’s open day to see how the atmosphere looks like. The pictures and the list of programs were somewhat lively. Even prior to the open day, Curtin advertisements were frequently played on TV with theme centered around Curiosity. An aggressive marketing indeed.
So last Sunday, I decided to go to campus to check out the open day. I mean, who’s not curious on what sort of activities they put up just for the open day, right? I only had 1 thing in mind for the purpose of that visit: free stuff. Cheapskate…

Lets see what I’ve got from the open day:
a black bag (which can used to shop groceries) 5 differerent colours of highlighters;
notepads;
30cm hard ruler (which is useful for geological mapping);
MikyWay chocolate bar (I love free chocolate);
a huge of Perth From Space;
a can of Red Bull (the promoters were smart that they opened every single of Red Bull before giving them away that there’s no way you can save it for other time);
2 pens;
and a single cup of red wine.
And that was the day when I saw a llama for the first time in real life.

Can’t wait to have the chance to ride on them one day if I travel to Peru for the Inca Trail expedition.
