Jazz in the City

I just came back from the city after watching a live jazz performance at Forrest Place. The Jazz In The City event was the first of many organized for the City of Perth Winter Arts Festival.

Hip Mo’ Toast Big Band was the band that played just now and I must say that it could be the best jazz ensemble I’ve ever watched. I couldn’t recall the list of songs they played but they managed to make me feel as if I was in New York. You know that kind of jazzy music when you walk around New York City… yeah, like how they used to play that kind of music in any movie that evolved around the city. Honestly, they’re really good and the crowds loved them.

I’m glad that the local jazz acts are well-accomplished that they formed the Perth Jazz Society. I’m an avid fan of jazz (not modern), but the location of their weekly performance at Charles Hotel is so far from my place that it’s hard for me to catch up with the local jazz scene.

And that’s just the beginning of the Winter Arts Festival and I’m hoping to enjoy the other events that are coming soon. Well, only if they’re free like today’s event then I’ll go. :D
