Guess what? Yup… I’m already back in Perth, way earlier than my original flight schedule. You guys must be wondering on why the heck does this guy has to fly all the way back home for such a short period of holiday and bla bla bla. Well, I’ll just spilt out of what I’d been hiding from you guys till now.
Lets just say that at the end of last year, the doctor detected that my urine contains traces of blood and protein, which is obviously not a good sign. Because of that, my visa was delayed for almost 2 months but thank God that my visa was granted just in time for my enrolment.
So, erm… about the urine abnormality, the doctor suspected that I am suffering from IGA nephropathy. To cut the long definition of that symptom short, one of my own body immune systems, IGA, attacked my own kidney. Serious? Could be, which can result to kidney failure. I mean how is it possible for it to attack my own kidney?
Lets just say that when you are sick, all your five body immune systems will increase their level to kill off those virus in your body. When you’re cured, all of the five immune systems level will decrease… but for my case, all decreased except one which stayed on high level, which is the IGA. The best way to diagnose the disease is through kidney biopsy, where they will insert a needle slightly bigger than the common injection needle into your kidney from your back, and suck out the flesh which will be sent to the lab for further analysis.
However, there’s a final standard procedure that I had to go through before doing the kidney biopsy: peeing into a 2 litre tank throughout a 24-hour period. That means whenever you need to pee, every single drop of that pee must go into that freaking transparent tank. The process was so troublesome, yet it can be so convenient… so convenient that you can put the tank next to your bed so that the next time you don’t have to walk all the way to the bathroom to answer the short call of mother’s nature. What, you think I did that?! Heck no!
So cut the crap… once the 24-hour period’s over, I had to rush all the way to the hospital to give back the tank for fast analysis. By then, I already knew that I had to undergo the kidney biopsy.
But no, the analysis stated that my urine’s normal and there’s nothing wrong with my kidney!
Thank you so much God… and gosh, you have no idea on how relieved I was till now. Just imagine that everyday, you have to think of the consequences if you lose one or both of your kidneys, wondering when will it happen to you.
So now, I’m just enjoying my life here while NOT looking forward towards the start of a new semester. Dum di dum…
