Leo Forum 2007

Don’t get me wrong regarding this coverage of the forum in terms of a Leo member, we were just there to entertain them with music. Held at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club, it is an annual forum that gathers all the Leos from the whole East Malaysia zone. How many of them? An estimated figure of 600 participants. Gasp

And I tell you what, this is the first time our band were treated like a band artist. I’m serious! Imagine all the dishes being served to us… restaurant-style and yet, those dishes are meant to be served for 10 persons… and there were only 5 of us. You should see the expression of my happy face throughout the dinner.

As we had our dinner earlier than their actual dinner, we started to play the birthday hymn during the commencement of the cake-cutting ceremony. A few bla bla bla here and there, and the first set of 5 songs were played. The moment we heard the crowds’ reception for us before the first song, we knew that this will be a night we’re looking forward to enjoy… And guess who got the flowers again… no other than Eric himself being the heartthrob for every single ladies on that very night.

Throughout our break, there were few performances conducted by various secondary schools, ranging from a traditional Kadazan dance to some R&B moves. My favourite obviously goes to a bunch of guys wearing their singlets, singing Richie Ren’s Kan Guo Lai (or is this how you spell it?)… which kinda reminds me of a kopitiam type of music video clip.

Then, they required a male and a female from each table to come up the stage to compete for the Leo’s King and Queen of the Year awards. All they have to do is to answer some questions regarding their purpose of joining Leo and what are the things they learn as a Leo.

After the short presentation of the awards, the entire night belonged to us. Even before we start out with the performance, the crowds were already on a high till Eric got a headache to decide which songs to bring… by then, it’s obviously a no-no for slow-moving songs.

Man, the crowds were awesome. They’re the best crowds so far throughout the number of performances we had and never we encountered the level of their enthusiasm on the dance floor. It’s like how they react during the 60’s era when The Beatles were driving girls crazy like hell. Not only that. A bunch of boys went up the stage and showed whatever moves they could grab a girl’s heart, with some mambo dances forming up to become a chain of humans dancing up to the stage, and down again… back up again, and down again…

Imagine that lasted for approximately 3 hours. Yes, I repeat… 3 freaking hours! Gosh, like a snail facing the wind.

In the end, it was a great night of performance and we truly enjoyed it. All this wouldn’t have happen if not because of Curtin Leo Club for inviting us to perform for the event. Thanks guys!

And to all the participants of the Leo Forum, thank you so much for participating with us during the footloose session. We love you all and we hope to see you again soon.
