Because of our multiple field trips that took us the entire day, we were freaking late for the jazz festival. The moment we reached there, Orak Naa Naa was about to finish their performance. Judging from their last pieces of music, their jazz is somehow very unique in a mixed up remedy of Morrocan and German music. Yet, their music is somewhat similar to KCP4 and yea, it doesn’t suit my type of music.
George WashingMachine Quartet was the second to perform and they played a typical Australian folk-jazz music. I really love it and it’s kinda relaxing that I went outside of the Pavilion, sat on the grass with a bottle of beer and enjoy their music on the big screen.
The band that stole the night definitely belongs to Habana Sax, the third performer of that night. Like Lluis Coloma, everyone were eagerly anticipated to watch their mixture of various latin music and they really delivered it to the max. Hate to say this but I had goosebumps as long as the drummer played some difficult latin rhythms. What else to say that they even improvised something that they choreographed to a music they made from their mouth. So freaking awesome for that… and it made me think twice whether I should buy their CDs… felt kinda regret for not getting it though.
As usual, the last to perform was The Dirty Dozen Brass Band. And knowing of the type of music they would be playing, I had a chill on the grass again with another bottle of beer, alone. Towards the end of the show, they managed to live up the crowds’ expectation to end it in a climax way. No offense again but Habana Sax should be assigned the last slot for the closing of the event.
Overall, it was much better compared to last year’s event. I won’t be here next year but gosh, I’ll be sad if Habana Sax or Lluis Coloma are in the list for next year’s event.
