2nd in Rexona Bandkuest Challenge Grand Finals

Litbox on stage, receiving our prize

Yes! Our band, Litbox emerged as 2nd place in the Rexona Bandkuest Challenge Grand Finals! Even though we were targeting to win the competition, we didn’t put up the best performance on that night. Despite of all the mistakes we did on stage, getting a place just behind the champion was just out of the prediction. Incredible enough to say that this competition took place throughout the state of Sarawak and we got 2nd! :-D

Anyway, the event started an hour late for don’t know what reason with an opening speech by Silas. Danny’s side-project band (I forgot the name) kick-started the event by performing several songs, followed up by Funny Rabbits who got 3rd in last year’s Blast Off. After their performances, the competition begun.

Georgette was there covering the whole event and I eventually posed with her ducky on her camera. :-D Robin and Chun Chow were also there, along with my other friends who made it: Jefferson, Ah Chiang, Jonathan, Clarence, Ehren, Emilyn, Sam, my cousin Linggir and the rest of his friends.

MonkeyKat, the champion of the competition, played well with simple pop-rock music with precise timing and cute vocals by their female vocalist. The band before us, Masterpiece, gave us a nerve-wreck feeling with their solid performance. They actually got 2nd in terms of judges score, but we overtook them with the number of votes. Thanks to luck. Then, Litbox came to the stage and performed:

It’s over now and we would like to thank to all our friends and relatives who made it to last night’s event to support us. For those who didn’t, thank you for giving us the confidence through messages. Not to forget for all the efforts contributed by Kazlan’s entire family for improvising our music and letting us using their studio for hours.

Once again, thanks to you all for supporting us! If not because of you guys, we wouldn’t make it this far. Here are the pictures (courtesy of Robin) for you all to enjoy and keep it as a memory:

Based on that video you posted, I thought your rendition of “Through Glass” by Stone Sour was ok, but had no idea what that mess of a second song was.

JJ: Yeah…it was just unexplainable but we were thankful that we got 2nd, which was unexpected.

Dude..sorry for late Congrad. I juz found out abt ur page thru Under One Label website. I saw the vidz, u guyz were Awesome. My Band (Shine My Silhouette) couldn’t join the event due to the holiday seesion..haha Anyway Music is not about winning a competition or making money. I hope Litbox stick together and make more own music, then we can come out with Curtin compilation. At the mean time I’m hoping complete my band (SMS) 4-5 songs Demo by end of March. So far I]ve only manged to put up 1 demo song in myspace.com. Anyway one good news for our Curtin Uni, the song “SMS - Moments Breaking” was featured in SLYD Project Album: Autumn Ends, which was released in KL/indo/philipine/thailand 21st dec 2006 and about 3000units sold. When will you be back to Miri? Any plans for Music Club this year? I’ll be going on 15th, so when u’re back ring me…maybe we can call a meeting to music club committe members and discus the music club program for this Sem.

All the best Manzz..I envy u as a good drummer, ur timming is always damn bloody tight..Awesome.

JJ: Hey pal! Thanks a lot for this piece of advice and I’ll let the rest of the band members know about it… and thank you so much for supporting us all the way throughout the competition. Regards to you from Litbox, Calvin.
