Ever since AirAsia started its domestic flights within Sabah and Sarawak, I thought it was a good news for everyone since MAS had initally plan to withdraw its domestic routes to concentrate more on international flights. I paid RM90.99 for the one way trip, including the RM6 flight insurance just in case if the flight got delayed or something, then I can claim some cash from them. However, things just got worse from there. I’ll just tell you the story from A-Z regarding Airasia.
I was annoyed by the guy who handled the check in counter when he asked me where’s my destination. Hello, my slip and IC were on your desk to check. You don’t have to ask me that stupid question as if you don’t have your eyes and a pair of hands to work out that slip. What’s the use if AirAsia have this policy that requires you to print the confirmation slip and details of your flight? Being totally annoyed of that, I just replied “Neh!”, and he stared at me, being assembled in his thinking as some rude young guy trying to mess around.
Well, he caught me in the end when my luggage was overweighted by 4kg and Airasia only allowed 15kg of check-in luggage. 1kg = RM8, and the total is RM32. Sigh, here goes my birthday angpow. I was cursing myself, knowing that the total flight cost to Miri using AirAsia was more expensive compared to MAS students’ price.
Before take-off, one of the hand-carry luggage compartments on my left was not locked properly. The lady sitting opposite me told the stewardess about it and she tried to lock it. In the end, she gave up and just let that be, trying to test out whether it will come out with a small force pulling it with her middle finger.
Celaka, the way she handled that kind of stuff really pissed me off, so I asked the steward to fix it or be prepared of the consequence. Speaking of safety precautions, eh?
Anyway, there were some new things in the aircraft that brought to my attention:
Well, one thing I like about AirAsia is that they have the best pilots in the world, much better than MAS’ pilots. You know why? Whenever the aircraft landed on the ground, the aircraft would brake slowly and make one turn before entering the terminal area. But for my flight, the pilot break, and turned the aircraft into the terminal area straight away while the break was still on the pedal!
Gosh, it was like a drifting experience in an aircraft for the first time for most of us. Faces of amusement were everywhere in the aircraft after that landing, all knowing that it’s dangerous that the aircraft can flip to one side. But who cares, the pilot is damn good!
Now everyone can drift inside an aircraft, thank you Airasia!

However i heard from someone who used to work with Air Asia that the company does not practice safety precautions when flying, for instance, turning into the terminal area when the aircraft is still in the process of stopping like u said up there and also aircrafts that have just flown must rest for i-dunno-how-long but airasia just flies nonetheless! So good thing u buy insurance lah.

i have yet to hear anything good about the service.
Ah, kinda sad that MAS is cancelling their domestic flights.
Posted 30 Jul 2006 at 10:36 pm ¶hehe…i don’t really like air asia too …but although MAS provides better service, I hate that they can’t operate in a profiting manner which could cost Malaysia economy in the long term. What is the use having the best service and more comfortable flight when no one can afford them.

Posted 31 Jul 2006 at 3:06 pm ¶u should start a new airline!
Posted 31 Jul 2006 at 6:13 pm ¶Well, it’s not that bad la… hahaha… I fly AirAsia through and fro from KL since I started studying in Curtin and it’s like taking a bus for me liao… besides from the slightly cramped space, it’s really worth the bucks! Where else can you fly KL -> Miri for only RM40? hehehe…
Anyway, I never bother with their air stewardess cause I just do my own stuffs everytime…
Cheers~!

Posted 02 Aug 2006 at 9:04 am ¶You pay peanut and you get peanut service la. I bet if you fly with MAS you have to pay about RM500. Anyway, those are small problem. Wait till you are caught in a 5 hours flight delay thing. Then all your KNNMCH all come out. wakakaa..
