Not long after I came back to Kuching for this semester’s break, I was so eager to be in the driver’s seat after not driving for so long. I never knew that what I was about to experience turned out to be the worst nightmare for my Waja:

Well, not really the worst nightmare though. Nah, it’s not about people trying to steal the car. It’s about ME, myself who were so strong enough to pull off the door handle with HIS almighty strength in a joyous mood after watching Brazil trashing Australia 2-0. Darn…I didn’t pull it too hard ok? And no, I didn’t drink.
So just now, I went to the Proton Edar centre to get the door handle fixed. Eventually, they have to replace the whole thing instead of the handle itself since the inner thing (which is made of plastic, duh…) is broken. I assumed that it probably cost me only less than RM30, but NO. Do you know how much it cost me? RM74.26!!! I wonder why…so my cousin happened to check the bill, and guess what?
RM34.26 - Door handle
RM40.00 - Spray door handle
Wow…it’s like the cost to spray a 15 x 8 cm dimension thingy is RM40.00. What the heck?! Man, it’s so freaking expensive.
Come on, the car is just 4 years old and now the handle’s broken? I think I’ve officially become one of Proton’s many inficit victims. You know what, I want to laugh like hell when I read this:

For those who can’t read that, nah:
DEMAND PROTON GENUINE PARTS
It is to risky to compromise on parts. It can be at the expense of your safety or that of your loved ones. Fitting non-genuine parts can also end up with you paying more in the long run. Plus, it can reduce the worth of your car. Remember, only Proton genuine parts come with a guarantee. Get your Proton genuine parts from Proton Edar, EON or all their authorised Service Centres and Part Dealers.
Oh please, I just broke your genuine door handle.
What else are coming up? Proton users, be careful.

Posted 20 Jun 2006 at 8:45 pm ¶Toh si lor. Should have bought the FAKE stupid door handle. Sigh :/
Posted 20 Jun 2006 at 10:37 pm ¶This is just one of the small niggling problems. I myself have been through this - having to replace all the minor and irrelevant parts that aren’t supposed to wear out so fast. Consider yourself lucky. You should’ve seen the lives lost over the use of their products in what are supposed to be survivable accidents. Anytime I’m driving the Proton I will automatically be extra careful. If such car were to be marketed in the US, they will have their asses sued off.
Posted 21 Jun 2006 at 10:10 am ¶Seriously, the national car really is not worth the money spent. If u can, better invest in Korean or Japanese cars. Not that I’m insulting Proton or wat, but hey, if Proton really wants ppl to buy their car, they had better made it damn good. The chasis strength & overall performance is jus undesirable. Considering hw long they’ve been in d industry? Improve ppl, IMPROVE!
Posted 21 Jun 2006 at 12:52 pm ¶You, know… you can buy only the handle… and try painting it your self and calculate how much everything cost for you with your labour……
Bout the improvement of proton…. hey man… please check the history of proton if they had improve and please… your a malaysian and you must know that this is your product … so have common sense… before you post……………… please think of it and have a little research of it….
” JUST THINK OF THE PAIN PROTON HAS GONE UNDER “
Posted 23 May 2008 at 8:29 am ¶ha ha ha…. Know what? It doesn’t matter what you say, but Proton and all its francais has lost my vote. I have been doing services at the “authorised service centre” since i bought the car but all i got is mistake after mistake. First i got a broken radiator, than both the brake light burn (i was lucky that the car didn’t burn with me in it) and after that the new brake light seems to leak. Even my spare tyre started to rust because of this. “AND YOU’RE TELLING ME ABOUT TO GIVE PROTON A BREAKS” Ha ha ha…. Better give me a break. If i was rich enough and the government didn’t put that much tax on foreign car, i would have bought a Honda. Even Perodua has tighter QC than that. Anyway, maybe next year we could all buy foreign car. Adios.
